Pipeline Announcement

February 6, 2026

Prime Minister Carney and the Liberal government were elected on clear promises to build oil and gas pipelines, to make Canada an energy superpower, and to move at unimaginable speed. MP Ross has stated publicly that he will hold them accountable to those commitments, and he will continue to do so.

Unfortunately, the government’s position seems to change depending on the day and the province in which the Prime Minister is speaking in. We have heard different answers on whether there will be provincial consent, national consensus, or First Nations vetoes involved in the process. Canadians deserve clarity, not shifting messages.

Despite the recent motion vote in the House, the real test will come if and when an actual project application is filed. At that point, serious questions remain about whether it will be pushed into years of review under the Impact Assessment Agency or fast-tracked by the Major Projects Office. Both scenarios raise important concerns that have yet to be addressed.

The Liberals were elected on three major promises:

  • 1. They claimed they were the only party capable of dealing effectively with President Trump.
  • 2. They promised Canada would become the strongest-performing economy in the G7.
  • 3.They committed to making Canada an energy superpower, including expanding oil exports.

As the Official Opposition, we intend to hold the government accountable for these promises and ensure Canadians get straight answers, not more delays and political spin.
